Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
