🔗 Share this article Woman Stabbed in Birmingham City Bus Stop Attack Succumbs to Injuries The scene guard stayed positioned throughout Saturday and Sunday The female victim who was stabbed in the neck in an unprovoked attack at a bus stop in Birmingham has passed away, police have confirmed. The deceased woman, aged 34 years, came under attack in Smallbrook Queensway, just outside the Bullring shopping centre, just prior to 21:00 GMT on Friday, West Midlands Police said. The incident occurred just outside Bullring mall on Friday The suspect, twenty-one, was presented at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday, charged over the violent incident. He was previously accused with attempted murder however after the victim's passing charges were upgraded to include murder. Law Enforcement Actions The force said officers would be in the downtown area through Monday providing public assurance, and investigators were supporting the victim's relatives. Police said their assessment indicated the attack was "unprovoked" Detectives are appealing any eyewitnesses who might have observed the accused, identified as British citizen of Black ethnicity, reportedly dressed in grey athletic wear, dark headwear, trainers and rucksack. Incident Location The knife attack occurred outside Bullring retail complex, opposite the main entrance to Birmingham New Street station. Law enforcement confirmed they classified it as a random violent act and Det Insp James Nix said efforts continue to determine why it happened. Witness Accounts An area worker, who works nearby, recounted paramedic and police activity after completing her shift at about 22:00 Friday night. She described the scene as extremely disorderly, adding that co-workers reported hearing loud disturbances at about 21:00. "A lot of my colleagues use transit services, ride the tramline... our security is compromised fundamentally, in the downtown area." Ashley Birks, 25, resident of Stoke, said he came to Birmingham fairly regularly to see his girlfriend resident there, and was concerned regarding the incident. "It causes concern about my partner," he stated. "She doesn't drive and works at all of the big music venues... and to think something completely unprovoked occurred, you know, it's horrible."
